形態特徵

Rhizome tuberous. Stems loosely tufted, 80-150 cm tall, green, terete; nodes few, distant.
Leaves oblong or oblong-elliptic, 30-60 cm long, 18-25 cm wide, green on both surfaces; apex gradually tapering to long acute, base sheathing; petiolate part portion between blade and sheath very short or absent.
Inflorescence a raceme, mostly simple, loosely flowered. Floral bracts ovate-orbiculate, 10-15 cm long. Flowers mostly paired, erect; sepals lanceolate-oblong, ca. 10 mm long, greenish; petals 3, erect, lanceolate, 3-3.7 cm long, apex acutish, pale green, reddish tinged, base connate, adnate to tube of staminodia; staminodia 4, outer 3 oblanceolate, 4-5 cm long, apex obtuse, deep red, inner staminodes slightly shorter than outer ones, bearing a fertile anther, very seldom one more inner staminodeia remaining as a subulate vestige. Style slenderly oblanceolate.
Capsules ellipsoid.
